2020: Classic Blue

Gem Journal

It’s 2020 (yes, we know it’s March…but we’re still catching up from buying Classic Blue Sapphires in Sri Lanka)! Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year – Classic Blue feels perfectly representative of our emotions, dreams, and vision as we enter not only a new year, but a new DECADE! We hope the jewelry industry will see the effect of Pantone’s color choice in 2020!

Ginger was once a clothing and color consultant before she found her love of gemstones too alluring to ignore on a full-time basis! 🙂 I’ll let her tell you why she loved dressing women in blue: “When a woman’s complexion made blue perfect for her, I saw the difference in her mood immediately: peaceful and powerful at the same time…the epitome of calm, cool, collected, and ready to go! Blue evokes trust, honesty, and credibility in our mind – so important in life!”
Pantone says of their color choice: “Constancy and confidence is expressed by Classic Blue, a solid and dependable hue we can always rely on. Imbued with a deep resonance, it provides an anchoring foundation. It’s a boundless blue, evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky.”
Sometimes I think about what “seeing blue” means for miners, those who bring Blue Sapphires and other blue gems from the depths of the earth. For them, a glimpse of Classic Blue means VICTORY, the sign they’ve been waiting for in the days, weeks, months – or even years – of hard work. We’re passionate about equipping miners with effective and safe mining tools through Gem Legacy.
Honestly Classic Blue gems always strike a deep chord with me. I highly value honesty and clarity and it symbolizes that and so much more as we enter a new decade where we need both in quantity. Also, there are three marvelous gemstones that I think fit perfectly into the Classic Blue color: Tanzanite, Iolite, and Blue Sapphire!
